To care for opal stones, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe away dirt and oils. If needed, use a solution of mild soap and warm, room-temperature water. A soft toothbrush can be helpful for scrubbing gently. Rinse the opal thoroughly to remove any soap residue and then dry it completely with a soft cloth. Never use bleach, ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or other harsh chemicals, as they can damage the opal's surface and clarity.
Opals are relatively soft and can chip or scratch easily, so remove them before activities like sports, gardening, or heavy lifting.
To care for gold filled jewelry, minimize exposure to moisture, and chemicals (like sunscreen, perfume or hairspray), which can cause tarnishing. Should you get any on your jewelry, simply clean it with warm water and a mild soap (like Dove). Be sure to completely dry your piece before storing away.
Store in a ziplock bag to keep from tarnishing from the elements in the air. Keep in a dry place.
